Welcome everyone to the MushRent blog where I trust you will be able to get more information about profitably growing Mushrooms and selling them in Zimbabwe. The idea of creating this blog not only came after a friend asked me to elaborate how a Mushroom Growers Association of Zimbabwe was supposed to work and I felt restricted within Facebook to do so. The Mushroom Association idea itself had been pitched to me quite eloquently by Nyasha Mupaso, a grower himself who has some great innovations in mind for the Industry. Having gone through his pitch I felt totally sold out to the idea. We need the numbers to be taken seriously by any key contributor to our work; our suppliers, our customers, the policymakers, aid organisations and new entrepreneurs seeking a headstart in the Industry.

I personally trust that this blog will create the space for ideas to flow from one point to another person to person and project o project with effects to be felt more by our clients than anyone. In Nyasha's thinking, we need to break the shroud of secrecy that has characterised the Industry for decades. One hand washes the other, as well we need the unity of minds to transcend our current limitations of space capital an intellectual property. At the height of our success we ought to be sharing not only supply related burdens but as well holding symposia in conjunction with our local knowledge centres in the nation for the greater benefit of the Industry. As such the secrecy code needs redefinition not in a mind to break down competition but rather to enhance it. We as much as anyone can embrace benchmarks as other Industries have and in turn raise our current levels production and enterprise.

The name MushRent in the root of the blog name has come up to me as the most appropriate as it invokes the mentality that Mushroom Enterprise should pay the rent for the 'room' in can't do without. This points at how much innovation we have to be witnessing in our Industry for that rent to be significant. As much as we individually are endowed with various levels of intellect to secure this innovation, I think that this grouping should be able to catalyse such knowledge for the greater good.

With those words, feel free to contribute to this blog and in turn benefit from the discourse.

Yours

Masimba B Mpahlo
